A fantastic new development in crabapple trees, Prairie Fire is resistant to scab, rust, fire blight and even Japanese beetles. The rounded 15-to-20 ft. tree promises an all-season extravaganza in your garden! The excitement begins early in the spring, with the emergence of lovely pinkish-red blooms. That's followed by the new purple-maroon foliage that later matures into a striking reddish-green color. In the fall, Prairie Fire puts on a vibrant display of red, orange and purple that's embellished by the glossy red fruits. Because it's so disease resistant, the tree holds onto its leaves and fruits longer than other crabapple varieties. The crabapples persist well into fall, even winter, and are a much-needed food source for birds. Zones 6-7. Note: We are unable to ship our trees to PO Boxes at this time.
